Nude celebrity photos and videos – brought to you daily by Islamic extremists. A shocking concept, hundreds of hours of scouring the dark corners of digital media on a daily basis to bring you nude pictures and videos of your favourite celebrities means there’s a new form of harassment against those who have attained a level of stardom. The main perpetrators? Islamic extremists.
Today, discussions about celebrities tend to focus heavily on their bodies and other sexual innuendo – just glance at a gossip magazine or celebrity blog. But what if there was something far more sinister out there? Islamic extremists who are taking advantage of the celebrity culture by threatening to make nude photos and videos of them available online if they do not meet their demands. It’s becoming an increasingly common practice among some religion-based organisations in various parts of the world, particularly among extremist groups based in countries where laws are not as well-enforced as other states, such as Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan.
The threat is sadly very real – with cyberattacks resulting from these extremism activities becoming one of the biggest issues facing the western world today. Famous people in both music and film industries have already had material stolen from computer systems, with images posted online against their will; some even going so far as to be coerced into posing for extreme pornography (or even just plain nudity). This is done mainly because these groups think that entertainment stars can be ‘used’ as scapegoats for their own religious ideology – or just because they want to see them naked!
What separates this brute form of extortion from any other type is that its ultimate goal isn’t money or power but rather to humiliate its victims: both directly via the explicit nature of nude photos/videos taken without consent, and secondly by exposing them to the rest of society struggling under oppressive state control regimes dictated by Islamic law which make no attempt at hiding it’s stance on gender equality – an extremely outdated worldview often used by radicals to oppress women’s rights within certain communities.
This behaviour cannot go unpunished – in light of such transgressions it is our responsibility as citizens to take action and protect those who are unable or too vulnerable to fight back alone. It’s up to us all discuss modern censorship concerns while holding accountable entertainers we’ve put trust into providing us with healthy forms of escapism during difficult times without being threatened; anyone else caught engaging in this kind unauthorised data access should know that they will face damning consequences if found guilty!
